About The Event
MANAGING THE LESSON: WEEK 1
👥 ATTENDANCE: Mandatory for Full-Time Teachers Only.
📍 FOCUS: Replacing shouting with clear, non-verbal signals.
At the start of the meeting, a facilitator is chosen from among people who haven't been a facilitator recently (going around the group in-turn style).
📋 THE WORKSHOP PLAN (90 Minutes)
MATERIALS NEEDED: Sticky notes , Pens, Printout of Video Transcript (Eng/Viet).
1. SETUP & REALITY CHECK (0-15 mins)
Facilitator: Open the "Intro to Classroom Management" Video on the TV ( Intro Video )
Activity: Facilitator writes on the board: "Why do I raise my voice in class?"
Action: Every teacher writes 1 honest answer on a sticky note and sticks it on the board.
Evidence: Facilitator takes a clear photo of the board with the notes.
2. INPUT & REFLECTION (15-40 mins)
Read: Distribute the Video Transcript Printout to everyone.
Watch: Play the video (approx 4 mins). Teachers follow along on the paper.
Discuss: Answer as a group: "What is one non-verbal signal mentioned in the text?"
Record: One teacher sits in front of the camera and summarizes the group's answers in a 30-second video.
3. WORKSHOP: DESIGNING RULES (40-80 mins)
Step A (Rules): As a group, write down 3 Non-Negotiable Rules for JYS using positive language (eg, "English First," "Listen to the Speaker"). Write them on the whiteboard.
Step B (Signal): Design 1 Non-Verbal Signal for the center (eg, a specific clap pattern: Clap-Clap-ClapClapClap ).
Step C (Practice): Everyone stands up.
One person acts as the Teacher using the signal.
The others act as Noisy Students .
Practice until the "students" stop talking immediately upon hearing the signal. Rotate roles so everyone tries.
✅ REQUIRED EVIDENCE (Zalo)
In-Meeting: Post the video of the group showing their written rules on the board and demonstrating the signal in action.
Homework (Before next meeting): Teach the new signal in a real class. Take a photo of the Rules written on your whiteboard. Caption: "My signal was [Name]. It worked/didn't work because..."
