About The Event
MANAGING THE LESSON: WEEK 4
👥 ATTENDANCE: Mandatory for All Teachers.
📍 FOCUS: Moving effectively to correct errors before the presentation.
At the start of the meeting, a facilitator is chosen from among people who haven't been a facilitator recently (going around the group in-turn style).
📋 THE WORKSHOP PLAN (90 Minutes)
MATERIALS NEEDED: Notebooks, Pens, Whiteboard markers, Printout of "Monitoring" Video Transcript.
1. MAP DRAWING (0-20 mins)
Draw: Each teacher draws a map of their actual classroom on a piece of paper (Desks, TV, Door).
Mark: Draw an X where you usually stand.
Evidence: Facilitator takes a photo of all the maps together.
2. INPUT & NEW ROUTE (20-50 mins)
Read: Distribute the Video Transcript Printout (Topic: Monitoring)
Watch: Play the "Teaching Speaking: Monitoring" video (Teaching Speaking: Monitoring). Observe how the teacher walks between the desks.
Draw: On your map, draw a Dotted Line showing a new route that touches every single student desk. It must not stay at the front.
3. THE HOT NOTEBOOK (50-80 mins)
Technique: Discuss the "Hot Notebook" rule: Do not just listen. Write errors down to fix later.
Practice: Simulate a class.
One teacher acts as the Teacher with a notebook. Others are students talking.
Step A: Walk the route. Write down 1 specific error you hear (e.g., "She go").
Step B: Go to the whiteboard. Write the wrong sentence.
Step C: Ask the group: "Is this correct? How do we fix it?" Cross it out and write "She goes."
Repeat in-turn so everyone practices Step A, B, and C.
✅ REQUIRED EVIDENCE (Zalo)
In-Meeting: Video of one teacher tracing their "New Route" on their map with a finger and explaining it.
Homework (FINAL TASK): Use the new route and Hot Notebook in class. Post a photo of the "Error Corrections" on your whiteboard at the end of a lesson. Caption: "My Hot Notebook corrections."
